The Social Welfare Office in Bohernasup, Ballina was evacuated on Tuesday morning after a container of petrol was sprayed in the vicinity.
A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene. The petrol was not ignited and no one was injured in the incident.
A forensic examination of the office was conducted and the man was scheduled to appear before Ballina District Court later in the week.
