If you like being scared then it will be the night of your life as Finbar Hoban presents. Fright Night Movie Night Halloween fancy dress party plus the Michael Jackson dance-off at Bar Ritz, Castlebar tomorrow night October 30. The Bar Ritz venue in Castlebar will be turned into a Halloween fortress for one night only with four rock acts from Limerick city plus there is going to be the hugely popular Michael Jackson dance-off where members of the public will be asked to re-enact the zombie dance scene from the legendary Thriller video.
Headline band We Should Be Dead are no strangers to Bar Ritz as they have played this venue twice in 2008 and toured America in 2009 with Henry Rollins championing the band on his US radio show.
We Should Be Dead’s first single ‘Forget Romance Let's Dance!' made a huge impact on its release in November 2007, landing at number three in the Irish charts. The single was A-listed on all the major radio stations, and gained huge exposure on BBC Radio 1 in the UK. The bands debut album was released on February 1 2008 in Ireland to critical acclaim.
We Should be Dead, who were nominated for a Meteor Award in 2007, have just released their new album titled Dreamstate. We Should Be Dead relocated to Los Angeles in January 2009 to begin work on their now complete second album.
The brand new album was produced by Owen Lewis (Lady Gaga, REM, Hole ) in the Record Plant studio in Lon Angeles. In between recording the album the band completed six US tours. A memorable performance at SXSW 2009 led them signing to the Green Room agency. The band also hit CMJ in New York where they showcased a lot of their forthcoming album alongside some of their own favourite bands.
Support for this show comes from three other Limerick rock groups called Windings, Last Days of Death Country, and We Come in Pieces with special guest DJ Marc Conway. This show gets under way at 9pm sharp and there will be lots of prizes on the night with the first prize being sponsored by Mulroys Bar in what promises to be a great night of fun and live entertainment at Castlebar’s only independent alternative and original night out.
