A Castlebar man who crashed his van into a another vehicle and then left the scene of the accident was before Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.
On February 8 at 6.47pm, Micheal Rowan, 16 Sion Hill, Castlebar, crashed his van into the vehicle of Noel Jennings, who was completing a three point turn, at Davitt Terrace. Rowan initially stopped, however he then fled the scene. The injured party was brought to Mayo General Hospital.
Witnesses and CCTV led gardaí to Rowan, who initially denied any involvement, however pleaded in court on Wednesday.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined the defendant, who has no previous convictions, €250 for leaving the scene of an accident.
