A 19-year old was before Castlebar District Court this week for road traffic offences and for handling stolen property.
On February 14 at 6am, two members of the Mayo under 21 team had their bags removed from a bus at McHale Park. The value of both of these bags was €978. Later that day Celyn Eadon Derrycrieve, Islandeady, Castlebar, was arrested after he was found in possession of a stolen item in his car.
On May 4, Eadon was observed to drive a defective vehicle, which also had no L plates displayed, nor did the number plates conform.
Earlier in the year on January 13, gardaí observed Eadon drive at speed at Saleen. When gardaí turned to follow the car, Eadon had pulled in and was sitting in the back passenger seat with another person. He said it was his car but that he was not driving.
The court heard that the defendant has previous convictions and is drinking heavily.
Judge Mary Devins adjourned matters to January 19 2011 for a probation report. The State was given liberty to re-enter and conditions were attached to his bail.
