Housing grants as far as the end of March 2010 have been approved in the Westport Electoral area, housing officer Martin Keating told members at a meeting on Monday.
Mr Keating said expenditure is being reviewed and “all going well” another selection of grants may be released, which will bring grant approvals up until the end of June.
The senior executive officer also had good news about the housing scheme in Kilmeena, as tenants have been notified of their selection and pre-tenancy courses are being organised.
As for the community centre in Kilmeena, LEADER funding is being applied for and it is hoped the project will go to tender soon, with the centre to be completed in six to seven months’ time.
