Labour leader to address party conference in Castlebar

As part of the 'Winning the West' campaign in the north and west, the Labour Party is organising a one-day conference in Mayo this weekend.

The venue, initially publicised as the Harlequin (formerly Days ) Hotel, Castlebar, has now been changed to the Breaffy Woods Hotel, Castlebar.

All are welcome to attend the event on Saturday October 16 which is to be addressed by Party Leader, Deputy Eamon Gilmore TD.

Dr Jerry Cowley is running as a Labour candidate for Mayo and every one of the 43 constituencies will have a “winning Labour candidate in place for the next election” according to party sources.

The conference will open with an address by party president, Michael D Higgins, and discussions will range from topics of health to the rural economy, with keynote speakers from the party’s front bench and the Western Development Commission.

The schedule will run from the opening address at 11am to the closing speech by party leader Eamon Gilmore at 4.30pm, with speakers and panellists including Michael D Higgins, Dr Jerry Cowley, Jan O Sullivan, Colm Keaveney, Susan O’Keeffe, Deputy Willie Penrose, Paul Keyes Western, Development Council, and Cllr Jimmy Harte.
