Train journey to Dublin cut by twelve minutes

Improvements to the rail service between Westport and Dublin will take 12 minutes off the journey, meaning it will take just three hours and 23 minutes to arrive at the capital.

Iarnród Éireann will introduce a number of service alterations to its schedule from this weekend which will dramatically improve journey times to a number of services on a number of routes. Customers should be advised that certain trains will have different than previously advertised departure times.

The 05:15hrs Westport Heuston service will have altered times at intermediate stations. It will call at Castlebar at 05:27, Claremorris at 05:46, Ballyhaunis at 05:58, Castlerea at 06:11, Roscommon at 06:30, Athlone at 06:54, Clara at 07:11, Tullamore at 07:20, Portarlington at 07:39, Monasterevin at 07:46, Kildare at 07:55, Newbridge at 08:02, Hazelhatch at 08:19, arriving at Heuston at 08:38. This is a reduction of 12 minutes on the journey time.
