Councillor Peter Flynn has suggested that a way to alleviate traffic coming from the heavily congested Newport road is to provide a link road to the Castlebar road.
During the electoral area meeting on Monday, Cllr Flynn said that with welcome progress in the Newport road, with planning for a Lidl store approved and with the impending relocation of the Gaelscoil, traffic management in this area needs to be assessed.
The Fine Gael councillor said a three quarter of a mile road to link to the two roads would suffice and funding needs to be found for this.
