A woman who, when approached by a garda in relation to the fact that she was parked on a double yellow line, responded “do you mind, I’m talking to my mother”, was before Castlebar District Court this week for road traffic offences.
Winnie McDonagh, 38 Manor Village, Castlebar, was stopped by Garda John Gallagher on January 20, as the defendant did not have insurance, tax, or NCT displayed. McDonagh later produced insurance, but had no NCT.
A month later Garda Conor Cunningham observed McDonagh parked on double yellow lines on Hopkins Road, Castlebar. A fixed charge penalty notice was issued but not paid.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined her €50 for not having NCT and €50 for parking on a double yellow line.
