Castle Travel to close in Castlebar

One of the longest established travel agents in Castlebar has closed its doors after 21 years in business.

Announcing the official closure of Castle Travel this week, proprietor Evelyn Byrne has offered assurances to clientele that any outstanding commitments or bookings will be honoured by the company.

In a statement issued to the Mayo Advertiser this week, Ms Byrne announced: “Evelyn Byrne closed her doors of Castle Travel after 21 years on September 21 last. After she made her decision to close she contacted the Commission for Aviation Regulation who assisted her in the smooth transfer of forward bookings to her industry colleagues.

“Her staff went to work behind the scenes contacting all present clients to reassure them of their holidays. No disruption occurred to any customers of Castle Travel while abroad.

“Castle Travel’s bond was more than adequate to guarantee the safety of its customers’ monies and that is why Evelyn would recommend that the public book with a reliable bona fide travel shop. Her decision was not made lightly but “it’s a changing and challenging industry and it was time…..”

“The staff and management of Castle Travel would like to thank its customers over the past 21 years for its loyalty and especially those who have been in touch in the last week to thank the staff for its wonderful professional service and offering wishes of ‘good luck’ in the future.”
