Anxiety is a general term for several disorders that cause nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worry. These disorders affect how we feel and behave and they can manifest real physical symptoms. An anxiety disorder is any mental disorder characterised by a significant amount of anxiety. Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorder and can often trigger a panic attack. An anxiety disorder can be a very real threat to an individual’s ability to function.
