Celebrations for four-star Knockranny Hotel in Westport

The four-star Knockranny House Hotel in Westport has been awarded a top Irish hospitality industry’s award in the Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Award for Four Star Hotels, sponsored by Aon Insurance.

Owned and operated by Adrian and Geraldine Noonan, Knockranny House Hotel was announced as the winner of the coveted award at the 22nd annual Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Awards, held in The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin, on Monday last, beating off stiff competition from its peers in the Irish four star hotel market to scoop the prestigious title.

Organised by Hotel & Catering Review, the leading magazine for the Irish hospitality industry, the Gold Medal Awards are recognised as the industry's most rigorous and competitive independent awards programme. A total of 14 category awards was presented at this year's gala black tie ceremony, which was attended by some 350 leading hoteliers, restaurateurs, and caterers from across Ireland.

“Knockranny House Hotel is a leading light in the Irish hospitality industry,” said Sarah Grennan, editor of Hotel & Catering Review and chair of the Gold Medal Awards jury. “Our judges were bowled over by this luxurious Westport hotel, with the inspecting judge describing his stay as one of the best hotel experiences he has ever had. This is high praise indeed from a judge who has travelled the world assessing hotels, but praise that is entirely justified for this jewel of Mayo which is a standard bearer for quality hotelkeeping in Ireland.”
