A new €700,000 oncology unit will be opened at Mayo General Hospital in the coming weeks.
Beverley Flynn TD said that this news, alongside the fact that the vast majority of Mayo cancer patients are having their treatment carried out at Mayo General Hospital, was a vote of confidence in Mayo General.
Deputy Flynn said that an additional oncologist has also been appointed to the hospital. “Mayo people can feel reassured that they are able to avail of such excellent cancer services here in their own county,” she added.
