Sinn Féin councillor Thérèse Ruane has welcomed the news that Mayo County Council is to receive €15,000 from the EU Mobility Week Grant Scheme towards a new cycle lane in Castlebar.
A key cycle route from Westport road to the Newport road via the new link road will now be complete. This development will also serve as a traffic calming measure on Lannagh Road, where the speed of traffic has been a constant problem.
Cllr Ruane also welcomed the funding boost of €3.5 million for the completion of the Great Western Greenway.
