Fine for man who drove friend’s car

A man who drove a friend’s car while it was not taxed was convicted and fined €350.

At Castlebar District Court this week, Garda John Melia outlined that on April 24 at 11.37pm he stopped a car being driven by Terence McDonagh, 52 Lakeview, Castlebar.

The car was not taxed. McDonagh told the court that he was not the owner of the car and had just “borrowed it” from a friend.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined McDonagh €300 for the car not being taxed and €50 for the non-display of tax.
