Hedge cutting in the Swinford Electoral Area is to commence shortly. However, as there is only a budget of €25,000, the director of services for the area warned that “expectations and demands” for hedge cutting “are not going to happen”.
At Tuesday’s area meeting, Councillor Gerry Murray raised the matter as he has been “inundated” with phone calls over the past 10 days in relation to dealing with hedges along the roadside.
Paddy Mahon, director of services, said that as the budget for hedge cutting has to be adhered to, not all hedges in the area will be dealt with.
