On Monday September 20 a food festival will take place in Newport from 11am.
Kelly’s Butchers of Newport won a medal for black pudding earlier this year in France and the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Goute-Boudin (The Black Pudding Fraternity of Lovers of Good Food ) are coming to Mayo to present Kelly’s with the medal.
There will be food stalls and bunting, music and festivities, and at 11.30am the Black Pudding Fraternity, dressed in their official robes and decorations, will march from the bridge along Main Street to Kelly’s Butchers. An organic pig roast will take place outside the Grannuaile pub.
