The design for the development of Purteen Harbour has not yet been seen by the council even though €300,000 has been spent on reports for the development.
An update on the proposed development of Purteen Harbour, Achill was put forward by Councillor Michael McNamara as a notice of motion at the Belmullet Electoral Area Committee meeting this week.
Cllr McNamara said that even though €300,000 has been spent on reports for the harbour, “which is in a terrible condition”, “nothing has come from it”.
Director of services Joe Beirne said that the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is dealing with the reports and no design has been received from them yet.
