Director of services Joe Beirne is hopeful that good news as regards the continued development of the Greenway from Mulranny to Achill will soon be announced.
During the Belmullet Electoral Area meeting on Tuesday, Mr Beirne said that the Greenway has been “the success story of the past 12 months” as it is the “most used facility in the county” and he hopes that an announcement on funding for the extension of the Greenway from Mulranny to Achill, which will loop back to Westport, will be announced shortly.
Funding for this project comes in equal measure from the Department of Transport and Fáilte Ireland.
