The Special Olympics European Games will take place in Warsaw, Poland, from September 18 to 24.
Ireland will be represented by a team of 34 athletes who will travel to the games to participate in five different sports: athletics, badminton, bowling, football, and table tennis. Among the athletes travelling is Mary Melia from Claremorris who will compete in athletics.
The 2010 Special Olympics European Summer Games will be the largest event for the Special Olympics movement in Europe/Eurasia in 2010 with 1,600 athletes from 58 countries coming together to compete.
