You can study for a BA (ordinary ) in Montessori education with St Nicholas’ Montessori College in Galway. This part-time evening course (Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications ) is validated by the Higher Education and Training Awards Council.
Over a minimum five year period, students study Montessori theory and methodology, Montessori internship (teaching practice ), special education, psychology, and Irish or culture studies (English literature and art appreciation ). Classes are held two/three evenings per week from 7pm to 10pm at GMIT.
Applicants must be at least 19 years of age on December 31 2010, have achieved at least a grade C in Leaving Certificate higher English and at least one other higher level subject. Interview and English assessment test also apply. Applications from mature students are also welcome. The course commences September.
