If you are heading to the Get out There adventure festival this weekend, then why not make it more fun and less stressful by getting there using public transport services provided from Castlebar, Newport, and Louisburgh. Or if you do come by car, why not park and stride?
If you are coming from Castlebar, Bus Éireann provides numerous day time services which can be checked on www.buseireann.ie or by calling 09671800. Michael Moran Coaches also provides an evening service; you can find out when the company travels by calling 087 2330097.
Buses will leave Louisburgh at the Square, and the Post Office in Newport at 12pm and 2.30pm and they will return to the point of departure at 3pm and 6pm from in front of SuperValu in Westport. The bus from Louisburgh will stop in Lecanvey and Murrisk, while the Newport bus will stop in Kilmeena at Midwest Buses. It costs €2.50 one way on both buses, which are provided by the rural transport programme.
There are dedicated park and stride car parks located on the outskirts of the town for the duration of the festival. They are located at Portwest on the Castlebar road, The Quay School, and The Greenway car park on Golf Course Road, and directions to all events will be signposted from the park and stride car parks. If you’d like to get on your bike and pedal around the town there are bikes for hire from Sean Sammon Bike Hire on James Street, Claremorris, and from Clew Bay Bike Hire on Distillery Road.
