Childline helpline for Leaving Cert students

Of almost 60,000 teenagers across Ireland who received their Leaving Cert results this week, some will be delighted with the results but others may be disappointed and feeling anxious and fearful about the future.

The ISPCC is reminding young people about Childline’s range of services where they can access free and confidential support and information. Childline is available 24 hours a day to listen in a non-judgemental way, and help teenagers throughout Ireland at what can be a very difficult time for them.

National Childline Manager, Margie Roe, today said; “Young people throughout Ireland today may be disappointed with their Leaving Cert results, which can leave them feeling sad, worried and anxious about the future. It is important to remember that there are lots of options out there but it is also important to take time to deal with what can be a stressful and upsetting time for leaving cert students. We would encourage these young people to talk about how they are feeling to friends or family. If a young person doesn’t feel like talking to friends or family they can contact Childline which is always here to listen.”
