Award for Lisloughrey restaurant

Salt Restaurant at the boutique hotel Lisloughrey Lodge in Cong has been awarded the Just Ask Restaurant of the Month Award for August.

Just Ask is a Bord Bia campaign which aims to encourage consumers to look for information on where their food is coming from when eating out, and encourages chefs to provide this information on their menus.

The team in Lisloughrey Lodge ensure that guests are aware of the local suppliers and artisan producers used to produce world class cuisine. Lisloughrey Lodge suppliers include Duane’s Seafood in Galway, meats come from the legendary County Galway butcher James McGeough, vegetables are from Burke’s of Galway, salads are grown in Headford by Stephen Gould, and cheese is supplied by Ireland’s premier cheesemongers, Sheridan’s of Galway.

“We’re delighted to be awarded this accolade for August, a very busy month for us,” said Marc MacCloskey, general manager of Lisloughrey Lodge. “Sourcing locally produced and seasonal fare plays a very important role when developing our menu with the kitchen team. Being on the Galway/Mayo border gives us wonderful opportunities to source produce locally whilst also having the scope for variety and quality.”

Speaking about the Salt Restaurant Georgina Campbell said, “Careful sourcing of the best local and artisan products — together with outstanding cooking — makes for a very special dining experience at Salt Restaurant and, although more casual, this care is carried through to the meals served in the Malt Bar at Lisloughrey Lodge, and to the special children’s menus offered too.”
