Litter lout convicted

A man who was observed to stash his domestic waste in an overflowing litter bin in Ballina was convicted and fined at Ballina District Court this week.

On April 23 at 6.50am gardaí observed Michael Palmowski, Quinns Apartments, Hill Street, Ballina, try to stuff a large bag of domestic waste into an already overflowing litter bin which was on Hill Street.

When questioned as to his actions, the defendant said that his landlord had not provided any rubbish bin for him. Garda Charles Elliott informed the defendant that there was a nearby rubbish dump where waste could be disposed of legally.

Palmowski, who was not in court, was convicted and fined €500 by Judge Mary Devins.
