The Mayo Male Voice Choir is currently seeking new talent to join its ranks and participate in its many popular performances throughout the year. The choir, which has members from all over Mayo, provides a wonderful showcase for some of the finest male singers in the county as well as offering a rewarding social outlet to members.
The choir was formed some years ago and to date has more than 50 members. The group has performed to wide acclaim in numerous venues, including The Royal Theatre in Castlebar where it staged its 10th anniversary celebrations. Under the directorship of Deirdre Lee the choir continues to go from strength to strength and plans are currently under way for a performance in the National Concert Hall later this year.
Present members of the choir hail from numerous Mayo areas including Castlebar, Westport, Ballinrobe, Kilkelly, Swinford, Cong, Killasser, Clifden, and Claremorris.
New members are now being sought from throughout the county and all are welcome. “You don’t have to be a Pavarotti - you just need to have a voice and enjoy singing,” said choir member Aidan Brett.
