A Westport area councillor said that the news that the Government is to stall the Western Rail Corridors construction from Tuam to Claremorris would be a “great shame” for the county and region.
Councillor Peter Flynn made his comments during the Westport Electoral Area meeting on Monday, the same day on which the Government announced a six-year €39.43 billion revised capital investment programme. Cllr Flynn said that this rail corridor would “cost a small outlay in terms of capital expenditure”, and he did not condone the “reversed political decision”.
