Following the recent proposal by Westport Town Councillors to place the Westport House masterplan on public display, the local area councillors have also proposed that the plan be placed on public display.
At a meeting held on Monday, director of services Joe Beirne told area councillors that their approval is needed to place the plan on public display.
Fine Gael councillor Peter Flynn said that he was “disappointed” to learn about the plan after reading about it in the local papers, and said that “a little bit more respect” should have been shown to area councillors, who should have been presented with the plan. However, the councillor said that he welcomed the plan which is a “huge, important, asset for Westport”.
