Mayo County Council will receive more than €400,000 in extra funding for water and sewerage projects in the county it was announced this week.
Ballina based Fianna Fáil TD and Minister of State Dara Calleary announced the extra funding.
A total of €422,000 extra was allocated by the Government to add to the €39 million the council had budgeted in its own budget for capital programmes for water and sewerage schemes. Minister of State Calleary welcomed the allocation, saying that it will be used by the local authority to help it with expenditure on sewerage treatment schemes and sampling and licensing costs associated with water services. “The allocation of this additional funding to Mayo County Council is very welcome. It will help the council in its work and contribute towards the Government’s aim of achieving the highest standards in water and wastewater treatment for the people of Mayo,” he said.
