Local actors and singers wanted

An exciting new musical production entitled On A Wing And A Prayer is now taking auditions for a new show in November.

According to author Terry Reilly, former editor of the Western People newspaper whose book On A Wing and a Prayer tells the story behind the late Monsignor Horan’s many great undertakings, including the building of Knock Airport, the stage production promises to be a magical performance.

The show has been specifically adapted for the Hospice Foundation performance in collaboration with Tommy Marren of Mid West Radio, who will produce the show, and who has wide experience in stage productions. Musical director will be Lavinia Gilmartin of the international award-winnng St Cecelia’s School of Song in Ballina.

“It is a very exciting time for the team behind the project, and a great opportunity for actors/singers in the region to get involved in a story that is original, motivational, entertaining, and presents an opportunity to showcase outstanding local talent,” said Terri Reilly.

Tommy Marren added that the show presented a great challenge. “For those who consider their stage opportunity had passed and others setting out on an acting/musical career, this could be your chance. We want to hear from you,” he said.

Open auditions take place at Knock House Hotel on Thursday July 29 at 7pm. Those with acting and singing stage experience are strongly recommended to attend. The show will be staged in The Theatre Royal, Castlebar, and will run from Thursday November 25 to Saturday November 27 with the option of an extra performance on Sunday. All proceeds go to support Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation’s Palliative Care Service.
