Convicted man’s visa terminated

A Latvian man who has previous convictions has been issued with a removal order and must leave the State by August 15, it was reported at Castlebar District Court this week.

Jurijs Zilajevs, 93 Aglish Estate, Castlebar, was before court this week for the possession of 12.3 grammes of speed, worth €184, which he was detected with on November 2 2009.

Solicitor Lynda Lenehan said that the defendant, who has been in the country for five and a half years, is to depart these shores by August 15 in light of the termination of his visa for previous convictions.

The defendant gave a sworn undertaking to the court that he will leave the country and Judge Mary Devins adjourned the matter for mention to September 1.
