The Mayor of Castlebar, Councillor Ger Deere, has appealed to the business community and the public to exercise patience with the major upheaval being caused at present by the redevelopment project in the town centre.
“I accept that disruption is being caused by the works but can promise that the finished product will be well worth the wait and would yield a significant economic dividend for the county town,” he said.
Cllr Deere suggested that people who are being caused inconvenience by the project should contact the council in order to work out a solution.
“The work is progressing but people should understand that the type of work is very painstaking as workmen have to contend with vast underground services while traffic control and safety have to be taken into account. We have to move on with the project in a positive note and the main message is that Castlebar is open for business.”
