The Irish Medical Times has issued a call for entries for this year’s Irish Healthcare Awards, which recognise and acknowledge originality, excellence, and innovation in the fields of education, pharmaceutical innovation, healthcare collaboration, and patient support, and apply to anyone working in acute and primary care, public health, the private sector and IT.
Presided over by a panel of distinguished experts, the Irish Healthcare Awards since their establishment in 2002 have attracted a wide range of entries from individuals and groups around the country. The closing date for this year’s awards is August 20 and winners will be announced at a ceremony in Dublin on October 28.
“The awards were established with the aim of celebrating and rewarding innovative excellence and achievement in the Irish health system and recognise projects that have made a positive contribution to the Irish health sector,” said Mr David Kelly, publisher, Irish Medical Times. “In the nine years since the awards were established we have seen exceptional projects and we look forward to reviewing this year’s submissions.”
Previous winners include St Vincent’s University Hospital for the implementation of the first smoke free hospital campus policy in Ireland; Pfizer Healthcare Ireland and the Migraine Association of Ireland for their Migraine Monitor, a text message and online service that allows sufferers to update a record of their migraine attacks from their mobile phone; Eli Lilly & Co and Beaumont Hospital for their ‘Express Yourself’ competition, which encouraged people with mental illness to express themselves creatively through painting, photography, poetry and short-story writing. The Lifetime Achievement Award, introduced for the first time last year, went to Dr Patrick McHugh, who has worked at Roscommon General Hospital for 30 years.
Entries for this year’s awards are welcomed from all areas of the health sector, both public and private. Submissions can be entered in any of the following categories:
