Cllr Coyle elected Chair of Belmullet Area

Fine Gael councillor Gerry Coyle is the new Chair for the Belmullet Electoral Area after he was elected at this week’s area meeting.

Cllr Coyle was proposed by Cllr Rose Conway-Walsh and seconded by the outgoing Chair, Cllr Michael McNamara.

The new Chairperson welcomed the new director of services for the area Joe Beirne, who in turn congratulated Cllr Coyle, who during his previous time as cathaoirleach of the county council had been “a great ambassador” for the area, he said.

Cllr Michael McNamara commented that his highlights of his year acting as chairperson was the progression of the Achill sewerage project, the opening of the Greenway from Mulranny to Newport, and the Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta which was held in Belmullet.
