Belmullet Electoral Area councillor Rose Conway-Walsh is opposed to any downgrading of the local authority offices in Belmullet, which may be affected with all the reforms in local government.
The Sinn Féin councillor raised her concerns during this week’s Belmullet Electoral Area meeting, where she said that these “critical” offices are needed for the area.
The director of services, Joe Beirne, said that these local authority offices are one of the “best examples” of the “integration of services” and even though there will be tough financial decisions to make in the county “at the back end of the year”, so far as possible, the offices will be kept at the “best level”.
