Fianna Fail meet with Minister Finneran

Fianna Fail politicians in Mayo met with Minister of State for Housing and Local Government Michael Finneran TD this week to raise a number of issues relating to budgetary and economic matters.

According to Achill based Fianna Fail councillor, Cllr Michael McNamara, Minister Finneran had good things to say about the RAS housing scheme currently being administered by the Mayo County Council and also gave assurances regarding funding of a three year programme for the housing grant schemes.

“He listened to the views, including the opposition all councillors had to a property tax. Councillors pushed strongly for continued efforts to get employment levels rising again. Also discussed were the promotion of the tourism industry, additional agriculture supports, future roads projects, local authority housing and the banking crisis,” said Cllr McNamara.

Those in attendance included Cllr McNamara, Cllr Jimmy Maloney, Cllr Margaret Adams, Cllr Annie-May Reape, Cllr Blackie Gavin, Cllr Johnny O’Malley, Cllr Frances McAndrew, Cllr Brendan Mulroy, and Cllr William Nolan.
