Driver ran off from gardaí

A 24-year-old man who when stopped driving by gardaí ran off, was before Castlebar District Court this week.

Kieran Tuffy, Killernan, Kilmaine, was observed by gardaí, driving at The Octagon, Westport on June 19 at 1.15am. When stopped, Tuffy ran off and when arrested on suspicion of drink driving, he refused to provide a blood or urine sample.

The kitchen porter, who has no previous convictions, was convicted and fined €500 and disqualified from driving for four years by Judge Mary Devins.
