Castlebar man tried to push past garda to fight

A man who tried to push past a garda to get involved in a brawl outside a nightclub was before Castlebar District Court this week.

On Sunday June 13 at 1.42am, Garda Peter Clancy observed Damon Cunningham, Apartment 5, Chambers Court, Cavendish Lane, Castlebar, jump out of a vehicle outside the Welcome Inn and rush towards a male, whom he attempted to punch.

Cunningham failed to desist for the garda and said “f**k you” to him. The defendant tried to push past the garda who had his hand out. Cunningham told the garda to “get your f***ing hands off me”.

The 22-year-old, who was not drunk on the night in question, was directed by Judge Mary Devins to contribute €250 to the Irish Carers Association.
