A Mayo man accused of downloading and possessing child pornography has been sent forward for trial.
Michael Langan (22 ) with an address at Houndwood, Cross, Co Mayo, is charged with allegedly being in possession of child pornography at his home address on May 19, 2009, and with being in possession of downloaded images of child pornography at a rented house in Rahylin Glebe, Ballybane, between October 22, 2007, and May 18, 2009.
Inspector Pat McHugh informed the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed the matter be dealt with on indictment and that Langan be sent forward for trial at the next sitting of Galway Circuit Court commencing July 6.
Judge Aeneas McCarthy made the order to return Langan for trial at Galway Circuit Court and remanded him on this own bail of €1,000 with the condition that he sign on at Galway Garda Station three times a week and continue his link with the Granada Institute - a national forensic adult mental health service committed to the protection of children and adults from sexual abuse.
