The annual International Four Day Walks Festival is set to bring thousands of people out on the roads and countryside around the town this weekend.
The festival, which is in its 43rd year, is one of the highlights of the county town’s summer with international walkers coming from all over Europe and further afield each year. The event, which kicked off on Thursday, will run until Sunday with the Welcome Inn Hotel serving as headquarters for the event. All walks will start at 8.30am daily, except for the rambles which will start at 9am. The ramble tomorrow (Saturday ) will start outside of the environs of the town and bus will leave the Welcome Inn at 8.30am to bring the ramblers to the starting point.
