Drunk man demanded lift home from gardaí

A 22-year-old man from Crossmolina, who after a night out in Ballina wanted a lift home from gardaí, was before Ballina District Court this week.

On June 7 this year at 3.15am on Tone Street, Patrick Rochford, 6 St Patrick’s Avenue, Crossmolina, who was intoxicated, approached the Garda public order van where he demanded a lift home. When Rochford was denied his request he insulted the gardaí with abusive language.

The mechanic, who has no previous convictions, was directed by Judge Mary Devins to contribute €150 to the Garda Benevolent Fund.
