Gardaí in Westport are currently in the process of drafting a policing plan for the duration of the town’s street festival which takes place in August.
Last year there were 22 gardaí on duty on one of the nights of the festival and Superintendent Mick Murray said at this week’s meeting of the Westport JPC, that as usual gardaí intend to adequately police the event to ensure that people enjoy their night in Westport.
Town clerk Ann Moore said that there is also an onus on the festival organisers to provide stewarding.
