A Ballina man who has 45 previous convictions was before Ballina District Court on Tuesday for being threatening and abusive.
On May 18 this year, gardaí received a call about a row which was taking place at Riverside Drive. Ashley Stevens, 36 The Commons, Ballina, was observed by gardaí to run down the street in the residential area in an aggressive manner and try to enter a house to engage in a fight. Stevens refused to desist when asked by gardaí, who then pepper sprayed him.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined the defendant €300 and sentenced him to three months in prison, which was suspended for 12 months.
