Business statistics just released this week show that some 5,800 companies have been incorporated in Ireland between January and May of 2010 - 1,800 more than in the first five months of 2009.
There has also been a rise of almost 16 per cent in the number of business names registered in the same period at 13,106 in 2010 in comparison to 11,302 in 2009 and 12,953 businesses in 2008.
Of the business names registered this year, just over 63 per cent are owned by individuals, indicating that business names are now very much the vehicle of choice for new business start ups and entrepreneurs.
More than 2,000 companies filed their latest financial accounts, while also this week 158 companies in Ireland closed down and 265 companies changed their registered address, 194 companies registered a new mortgage or charge - suggesting that many businesses are looking for new deals in property and leasing.
