The Bay Leaf restaurant, located in Horkan’s Garden Centre, is celebrating its first year in business and has now organised its second bumper annual barbecue for all the family on Bonfire Night, Wednesday June 23. Prime steaks, burgers, sausages, and smokey barbecue foods plus wine and drinks will be on offer and families of two adults and up to four children can bag the lot for €50 per family ticket.
The event also includes a bonfire with viewing stand, making it safe for children and adults to enjoy. There will also be music on the night with Sapphire and charity funds raised go to Castlebar Order of Malta.
The first Bay Leaf barbecue last year drew a crowd of over 500 people so the advice is to get in early for tickets. According to restaurant owner Ivan Carroll, business is vibrant at Horkan’s Garden Centre which now has eight other shops on site.
“We opened the Bay Leaf in 2009 and it was really just to give a new era in dining,” he said. “We wanted to give more life-style garden dining, which is huge in the UK because it is so family orientated.
Horkan’s is really a family centre now and the footfall is fantastic with approximately 300,000 visitors each year. There is easy access from the main N5, free parking and it’s open for business seven days a week. Our out of town location is also an advantage because there is no hustle and bustle.
