The new Achill sewerage scheme is on course to be open and operational by October, the monthly meeting of the Belmullet Electoral Area committee was told this week.
Fianna Fáil Cllr Michael McNamara told the meeting, “It’s good news and the work seems to be going well. But there will be a lot of work to be done on the roads and footpaths in the Sound to make sure that they are back in good condition”. Cllr McNamara was assured that permanent reinstatement works on the roadway would be carried out by the civil contractors and that there is money put aside in the region of €35,000 for repairs and improvements to the footpaths.
