More than 170 people have stopped working for Mayo County Council since December 2008, according to Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny. Commenting on figures received in respect of the numbers employed by Mayo County Council from the Environment Minister, John Gormley, Deputy Kenny said they showed that permanent staff in the council has decreased from 1,115 in December 2008 to 1,061 in March 2010. The biggest decrease is in the area of temporary and seasonal staff which has severely decreased from 182 in December 2008 to 65.
