New parish moves for Mayo priests

A number of priests in Mayo are moving on to new parishes in the latest clerical changes just announced by the Archbishop of Tuam, Dr Michael Neary.

With effect from Friday July 16 next, Very Reverend Des Grogan, PP, Partry, is to retire. Very Reverend Austin Fergus, PP, Mayo Abbey, has been appointed Canon of the Cathedral Chapter while Reverend James Quinn, CC, Taugheen, Claremorris, is to be Canon of the Cathedral Chapter.

Tourmakeady PP Reverend Pádraig Standún, is moving to Carna in Galway to take up as parish priest there, while Reverend Michael Nohilly, CC, Moylough is to be Adm Parke/Crimlin.

Moving back to Mayo is Very Reverend John Kenny, PP, Dunmore who will become parish priest in Partry/Tourmakeady and Chaplain to Coláiste Mhuire, Tourmakeady as well as providing sacramental service to Ballinrobe Community School.

Reverend Fergal Cunnane, CC, Castlebar is to be PP, Dunmore and VF of the Deanery while Reverend Michael Mannion, CC, Westport is to move to the Aran Islands as parish priest, to be replaced by Reverend Karl Burns, Adm, Parke, taking up as CC, to Westport.
