A man who drove around a roundabout the wrong way was before Castlebar District Court this week on a dangerous driving charge.
At 1.10am on March 9, Garda Luke Gray observed Michael Reilly, 25 Chapel Court, Chapel Lane, Claremorris, drive anti-clockwise around the Springfield roundabout before he took a right at the entrance to Springfield. Gardaí followed the car and eventually Reilly drove into a dead end and stopped the car.
The court heard that the 19-year-old married father of one was on his way to see his son, who was staying with relatives as his wife was in jail at the time.
Judge Aeneas McCarthy reduced the dangerous driving charge to that of careless driving and convicted and fined Reilly €300.
