Ballinrobe youth facility on cards for Christmas

A new youth club in Ballinrobe is progressing well and could be open by Christmas, it was revealed last week. However, further fundraising efforts are required to bring the project at the old Maple Hall in the town to fruition.

St Joseph’s NS in Ballinrobe was the venue for an information evening on the project held by the Tacú youth club committee to discuss progress of the Lake District youth facility in the town. At the meeting members of Ballinrobe Foróige club presented a cheque to the youth club committee towards the development.

Michael McDonald stated that following the appointment of a builder in March, plans are progressing well. “We hope to be able to have the new facility open before Christmas, but the whole community needs to get involved. Help is needed by the fund-raising committee where a further €200,000 must be raised,” he said.

So far €150,000 has been received from Leader to refurbish the building and another €50,000 has been raised locally.
